My Path to Holistic Health and Wellness

My own journey to better health began when I was diagnosed with a chronic condition called residual stress.

Simply put, I hadn’t given enough attention to releasing physical and mental tension from one stressful situation to another in my job and my life.

That state of sustained stress continued for years throughout my challenging but satisfying career in university management and counselling.

As a result, I became used to an unhealthy level of stress in my body. The slow, steady buildup took a toll on my physical health, especially my breathing, digestion, and sleep patterns.

The Upside of Stress

But as it turned out, my health crisis was really a gift in disguise.

By using a variety of holistic health approaches I learned practical ways to manage my stress. Once I experienced those life-changing benefits first-hand, I felt a strong need to share what I’d learned with others.

Along the way, I earned certification as a holistic health educator at the Kripalu Center for Yoga and Health, and a yoga teaching credential at the Sivananda Yoga Vendanta Centre.

I’ve also tickled funnybones with my laughter yoga training and calmed others as a member of the Canadian Reiki Association.

Since 2004 I’ve taught nearly 1,000 corporate wellness workshops for a national Employee Assistance Program (EAP) provider.

And I bring that same dedication to promoting holistic health and wellness in the workplace through my own stress management workshops in Toronto.
